Dr. Harvey Finkelstein is a Pain Management Specialist who has been practicing medicine since his graduation from the Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv, in 1981. After completing five years of residency at Long Island Jewish Hospital and University Hospital at Stony Brook in June, where he was also completed to Fellowships; One as a Fellow in Pediatric and Cardiac Anesthesia; and the second in Pain Management; he went on to become an attending physician at the Pain Management Center at University Hospital where he worked in that capacity until July, 1986. Since that time Dr. Finkelstein has worked in the specialty of anesthesiology and pain management in hospitals and private practice in Long Island, finally establishing his own private practice clinic in pain management in 2000, Pain Care Medicine of Long Island, PLLC, in Plainview.
In 2009 Dr. Harvey Finkelstein passed the fellowship exam of the World Institute of Pain (WIP) which bestows the designation of Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP.) The exam is a rigorous 3 part test which includes oral, written and practical aspects and judges the examinee on his/her knowledge and performance of 4 nerve blocks on cadavers in front of 2 examiners. In September 2010 Dr. Finkelstein was honored with being appointed as part of the team of examiners at this year’s FIPP exam of the WIP, which took place in Budapest, Hungary.
